The image of the Wizard of the Solar Center presents a being with a serene face and upright posture, uniting heaven and earth. With his arms outstretched or his staff pointing between high and low, he embodies the hermetic law “what is above is like what is below”, showing that the macrocosm and the microcosm are one. This archetypal Magician possesses hidden knowledge that transforms the spiritual into the material: he does not need external gurus, as he leads the inner process of individuation. By looking inward – your solar center – you awaken to your own light, just as Jung warns. Here the inner sun is the home of your will and trust; As modern tradition says, our “solar center… is where our will, our confidence, and our sense of identity reside.” The Magician activates that solar plexus, amplifying the power of decision and self-confidence.
The symbol of infinity (lemniscata) shines on his forehead, reflecting the cyclical and eternal nature of the soul. Just as the snake biting its tail (ouroboros) symbolizes endless renewal, the Magician remembers that our being flows in continuous cycles of transformation. There is no end: each goal achieved returns us to the beginning. In its golden heat the Great Work is accomplished: converting the dense into light. In fact, in alchemical icons the ouroboros encapsulates the “circular nature of the alchemist's work,” and this Magus applies that same inner dynamic to transmute the lead of limitations into spiritual gold.
In the hand of the Magician shines a golden chalice, receptacle of divine love. The chalice represents the receptive force of the heart, the holy Grail that welcomes the heavenly light. In esoteric symbology, the inverted triangle – like a chalice – is associated with both the grail and the human heart. Here, rays of golden light emanate from the center of the Magician's chest, signaling that his heart has become the internal sun. As the wise men describe, “the heart is the Sun of the microcosm”: a beacon of the inner divinity that governs our deep emotions. Each golden ray symbolizes the energy of compassion and creativity that drives your will. In short, all the elements – the attentive Magician, the internal sun, the infinite and the chalice – evoke the union of inner and outer magicians. The Magician does not seek power outside of himself; knows that, as the solar oracle says, “we are the creators we have been waiting for.”
